2 weeks agoWonderful hotel, friendly staff, fantastic swimming pools, unlimited drinks is an extra touch. Ice coffee was the best. All the meals were delicious. Plenty of variety, Sri Lanka, Western, Indian and South-East Asian cuisine....Sous Chef was excellent with our son's food allergies and was directing us confidently Kids club needs updating with more facilities or more extra facilities for younger and teen kids. As Rooms were clean and modern Evening entertainment was so good including Sri Lankan cultural dance The sauna and hot bath for adults was amazing too. Has a private beach which is amazing for kids Will come back again

3 months agoAs soon as we arrived, the staff were super friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We were all inclusive, so really took advantage. They have decent options and food variety available for each meal, and a couple of restaurants on site you can book to eat at. They have entertainment throughout the day which keeps things fun. A few more cocktail options would be nice, but otherwise we had an amazing time here.

2 months agoWhere do I even start with how wonderful this hotel is? The staff first of all, are the friendliest hotel staff I have ever met - always smiling, always happy, always ready to help. The service is impeccable - I never felt like I was missing or in need of anything. The food is authentic, local produce, lots of choices on offer. There is constantly somewhere available for you to eat at any time of the day. Rooms and overall hotel are super clean, pools are lovely and the bar staff create a great atmosphere. The only recommendation I would make to the hotel is that the night time entertainment should be changed a bit, as it is more attractive to an older audience and quite repetitive. A wonderful experience overall. Special mention to Chaminder and his team from the restaurant for making every dining experience fantastic.

3 months agoI visited Riu Sri Lanka in September 2024, and overall, it was a great experience. The room condition was excellent, even with the Junior Suite. It provided enough space for two kids and two adult, and we appreciated the extra bed that could also be converted into a chair. The welcome was warm and inviting, and there was ample parking space available. The restaurant services were outstanding, with good food quality that compares well to other hotels in the same range. We enjoyed unlimited drinks, coffee, and snacks, which added to the overall value of our stay. The hotel also offered plenty of kids' activities, making it a great choice for families. Riu Sri Lanka offers a comprehensive package that covers all holiday activities in one place, making it well worth the spending amount. The customer service was also top-notch, ensuring a pleasant stay from start to finish. Highly recommended!

a month agoI recently stayed at Hotel Riu Ahungalla and had a mixed experience overall. The food was one of the highlights, offering a good variety and consistently well-prepared dishes that made dining enjoyable. The room was also impressive comfortable and well-maintained, providing a relaxing space after busy days. The staff did a great job ensuring we were looked after, which added a positive touch to the experience. However, the check-in process was frustrating. We arrived at 1:00 p.m., ahead of the 3:00 p.m. check-in time, and completed all the formalities before 1:20 p.m., leaving us to wait only for the room keys. Unfortunately, even by 4:00 p.m., the keys had not been provided. While we stayed patient and enjoyed tea time, there was a lack of any restaurant or café to purchase a drink while waiting before tea time, which made the wait uncomfortable. Another concern was the pool area, which felt overcrowded during our stay, and I was unsure about the cleanliness due to the large number of guests. Despite these setbacks, the overall stay was pleasant, and with improvements in check-in efficiency and pool maintenance, the hotel could offer an even better experience. I'd consider staying again if these issues were addressed.
